Area History

The history of this area is rich in its background beginning with the indigenous peoples, up to the present. Once settlement began, first with Dr. Tolmie at Forty Nisqually, then with Ezra Meeker in Puyallup, and later with Tacoma becoming the terminous for the railroad into the Pacific Northwest, the community of Tacoma competed for business with the community of Seattle thrity miles to the north.

Points Northeast is the area of Tacoma, Washington that is located across Commencement Bay from downtown Tacoma. The three distinct areas within the area are; Dash Point (on the north side), Browns Point (on the western point), and Northeast Tacoma (to the south & east) which extends from Cresent Heights to near Fife. This area stretches along the bluffs which overlook the tide flats of the Puyallup River seperating it from the downtown area.
